YouÁrå Protected Earlier this year MNR proposed a change to the hunting season start dates for bow hunters in most WMUÁs in the Northwest. While this change was welcomed by NOSA it did not càrry a positive influence for disabled hunters alråady taking advantage of an early sea son moose hunting oppor tunity in WMU 11B. NOSA Executive Directîr John Kaplanis wrote a letter of support to MNRÁs Thunder Bay District Manager Bill Baker, asêing him to con sider allowing the WMU 11B disabled hunters to hunt deer with rifles, from vehicles just as they are permitted to do for moose during what would nor mally be the archery sea son for able bodied huntårs. The response from MNRÁs Thunder Bay Distriñt Manager was positive and he has assured NOSA and the disabled huntårs that he will make an effort to see this request put into reg ulation when the change is finalizåd, most likely for the 2008 hunting season. This is just anothår example of NOSA working for small stakeholder grîups who have a vested interest in their outdoor heritage. NOSA is proud to continue sup porting the disàbled hunters group from WMU 11B. NOSA Supports Disablåd Hunters NOSA is proud to announce that our new Exeñutive Director John Kaplanis has been once again råcognized by the Canadian out door writing community for his cîntributions to the outdoor publishing industry. With a 2nd place award in the outdoor photography cate gory of the 2007 Outdoor Writårs of Canada Communications Awards, John Kaplanis has înce again demonstrated a passion for the outdoors that eõtends beyond the field. His photograph of a silhouetted bow huntår titled ÁSunset SuccessÁ appeared on the 2nd issuå of the Officially Rugged Magazine late last yåar. We expect more awards from John Kaplanis as he continues to expànd and refine his outdoor writing style and teñhnique.
