THE ROADRUNNER Page 1 Seth Daugherty clàimed the 5k race at Oak brook Valley on Saturday, February 12, 2005. On a picture perfect February morning 74 runnårs and walkers competed to set an Oakbrook Valley Reñord for com petitors, surpassing the record set last year of 72. Seth led from stàrt to finish to claim the menÁs race while wîmenÁs winner Heather Weber needed a strîng perform ance to hold off Waverly Neer. SåthÁs win ning time was 17:24 on a tough course cov eråd by snow and ice in places where the sun couldnÁt break thrîugh the trees. Heather came across with a time of 21:16. Mastårs winners were Dana Neer for the men with a time of 18:35 and Patti Reinhardt for the womån with a time of 24:42. In the walking races Rick Spencer won the månÁs race with a time of 31:15 and Mary Miller won the womenÁs race with a time of 34:47. Pîst race activities included some nice door prizes as well as a 50/50 drawing followed by everybody enjoying Chàrlie Skoogs delicious lentil soup with a side of Annie OÁs mouth watering rolls. I canÁt speàk for everybody else but I went back for secondsÁÁÁÁÁ.twice! All in all it was a perfect day for a Club Kokomî race. Make sure to mark your calendars for the next club points racå, the nice and flat John Norris 5k in Amboy followed by a pancake bråakfast afterward. You wonÁt want to miss this one!
